Baby, It's Dark Outside.

According to Rachel, we are so far at the edge of our time zone that the sun sets earlier here and it gets dark super early. She says that within the month when we leave school, it will be completely dark. I find this hard to believe since most days we scoot out around 3:20.

So I looked into it. Turns out that Rachel is right, but only sort of. The sunset time is earlier than Kansas City, but only by nine minutes. Today in Falls Church sunset was 4:52 (gee, thanks daylight savings time) and sunset was 5:01 in Kansas City.

She is right that it feels significantly darker here. The roads totally change after dark, and places I thought I knew how to find have scurried into the shadows. By the time we did our after-school club and drove home today it was almost completely dark. After a quick run to CVS and picking up sushi, it could have been midnight. Pretty sure it was just shy of six o'clock.

Thankfully at nighttime, when it is completely dark outside, we have this little guy inside.

(yeah, that's right. I finally outsmarted my blog and have larger size photos. Take that blogger.)

Finley won't cuddle with you for long. He likes to climb all over you and try to pull himself out to escape. If you tickle him, he will giggle his sweet little laugh. We cuddled on the couch for a bit today. He's just shy of seven months and will make winter brighter.
